“The Foreclosure Crisis in Sonoma County”

Sunday, Dec. 18, 5:00-7:00 PM – 35 Liberty St, Petaluma

(PETALUMA, 12/13/11) The public is cordially invited to attend a Conference on “The Foreclosure Crisis in Sonoma County” on Sunday, December 18th at 5:00 PM, in the parish hall of St. Vincent de Paul Church, 35 Liberty St., Petaluma. A campaign action organized by Occupy Petaluma, this important community gathering will bring local speakers engaged in various aspects of the Foreclosure process together with a concerned public for an evening of information and discussion. The Conference is an invitation to the to set in motion coordinated community efforts to alleviate the emotional and economically bewildering burden facing those currently caught in the grip of this crisis.

“We will discuss how this crisis affects the whole community and explore concrete solutions,” says Conference organizer Tim Nonn.  “At the The Foreclosure Crisis in Sonoma County Conference, we will discuss how the foreclosure crisis has adversely affected everyone in Sonoma County. We will hear from homeowners facing foreclosure and those who have seen their home values drop sharply, from local officials who have seen public revenues and services cut back, from concerned clergy and from diverse community minded people who want to help.”

If you are a homeowner or renter, Petaluma needs to hear from you. Join us to explore concrete solutions and prioritize goals that the whole community can unite around. Speakers include Petaluma Mayor David Glass, homeowner Wendy Booth, small business owner John Crowley, as well as representatives from lending institutions, real estate firms, government, civic organizations, religious congregations and social service groups.

Occupy Petaluma feels that, as responsible citizens, we can’t just sit by and watch while so many lives are disrupted and destroyed by impersonal financial mechanisms, especially when it isn’t even good for our economy.
